Gratitude

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”
~Melody Beattie

Thanksgiving is a holiday about gratitude, giving thanks. It’s a special time to be thankful for our families, beloved friends, special events, amazing communities, and all the gifts of life that we are lucky enough to have.

Is it only around this time of year that you reflect on what you are grateful for?  What if you brought gratitude into every one of your days?

It may be the most simple and effortless habit for living a happier life. To just take a few minutes every day to focus on what you already have and what you can be grateful for in your life.  When I started bringing gratitude into my daily routine, I quickly noticed a difference in my overall wellbeing. How you do this is up to you.  It may be a gratitude list, recited in your head or written in the pages of your journal.  Possibly part of your meditation.  Or perhaps discussing what you are grateful for with a loved one(s) each day.  Again, it is your choice in how you choose to do this.

Gratitude in itself is a choice.

It is an amazing habit to cultivate, that demands very little but gives much back.

So here is my challenge to you my friends.  Take some time today to come up with a gratitude list.  If it doesn’t come naturally, don’t let that stop you from still giving thanks.  There is so much to be grateful for.  Slow yourself and it will come.

And in case you were wondering, here are somethings I am grateful for today:

  1. I am grateful for my health.  I never realized how grateful until I lost it a few years back during my battle with Lyme.  I have regained my health and I see things from a very different view.  I am feeling more strong and vibrant than ever before.
  2. I am grateful for my husband, Sal.  Who has always been by my side, always supporting me and lifting me up.I am grateful for my two beautiful, energetic, kind boys, Charlie and Jack. They would cringe if they knew I called them beautiful, lol!  They are in many ways, my teachers.
  3. I am grateful for the beautiful community in which I live.
  4. I am grateful for my work.  I never could have imagined how rewarding it would be.
  5. I am grateful for my body.  Something I took for granted when my health took a detour.  I have a very different body now, one that I am now in full acceptance of and love.  I have learned to listen to my body and we are friends again.
  6. I am grateful for the unconditional love from my sweet pup, Tucker.
  7. I am grateful for books and podcasts.  I truly love them so.
  8. I am grateful for my sisters. I have none by blood.  But that doesn’t mean anything.  So thankful for the connection and support.
  9. Lastly, I am grateful for my connection with the Universe, God, a higher power (all used interchangeably), for the guidance, support and grace you give me.

What’s on your gratitude list?

With so much love + gratitude,
